I am married to a wonderful and beautiful lady named Althea Montoya.  She is the love of my life.   Besides being husband and wife, we are best friends.  We enjoy spending time with our children and grandchildren.  Family gatherings is our favorite past time.  My wife is an avid softball player.  We travel to different parts of the state and sometimes out of state to participate in softball tournaments.

 

I have been in the insurance business for 22 years.  I started brokering with commercial insurance companies and later joined the Knights of Columbus Insurance in 1992.  I serviced the South West area of New Mexico for 15 years.  After 15 years of constant travel, my wife and I decided I should stay closer to home.  I currently serve a substantial part of Albuquerque, Los Lunas, and Tome, councils.  My goal is to continue to fulfill Father Michael J. McGivney’s promise, which is helping and protecting the Knights of Columbus members and their families.  

 

Business and Fraternal Qualifications

 

Successfully served as General Agent for the State of New Mexico from 1999 through 2003

 

Served as the Insurance Promotional Chairman for the New Mexico State Counsel for four years

 

Honored as Agent of the Year several times in my Knights of Columbus Insurance career

 

Member of Counsel 641, New Mexico’s Mother Council.

 

Achieved Fraternal Insurance Counselor Fellowship (FICF) designation

 

Achieved Certified Senior Advisor (CSA) designation

I was born in Santa Rita, a small town near Silver City, New Mexico.  Raised in the Mimbres Valley, I later moved to California where I lived for eight years. I returned to New Mexico in 1975, making Albuquerque my home.
